Production Diary
Meeting 1, 9th September 2009
Having difficulty deciding on our final song choice and listened to a variey of different songs. We have put the song 'Trust' by Megadeth into consideration and have exchanged contact details.
Meeting 2, 10th September 2009
We have decided on 'Trust' by Megadeth, and have began a basic concept. We want to film in a building I know about and gave the owners contact details. I know who I want to be in the video, the bacis concept, the location and the opening shot. I'm also more aware of how much I can get away with in my video.
Meeting 3, 11th September 2009
I have dicvovered that 'Trust' already has a music video and discussed with Alex and Miss Bond if we should still use the song. Miss Bond said that the song choice does meet the necccesary criteria to be used in the project. We liked the idea of how the song began in the video with it coming from the perspective of a girl tied up in a chair, with the camera blurring into focus to give the impression that she had just been kidnapped. We are going to continue looking into videos.
Meeting 4, 15th September
Miss Brookes tells us, contary to Miss Bond that using 'Trust' would not be wise and that we should seek an alternative song choice, whilst still using the original video concept. I made "Addicted to Chaos" by Megadeth our back up song choice and began annotating the lyrics. Alex suggested "Walk" by Pantera as another possible alternative. We have plans for using an abandoned house in Kelvedon Hatch which belongs to a contact of Chris'. I need to conatct the owner of the building we wish to film at.
Meeting 5, 16th September
Alex is absent today. It has been confirmed that 'Trust' is the song we are going to do. I start to annotate the lyrics of 'Trust.'
Meeting 6, 17th September
The entire video narrative is decided, lyric annotation is completed and Alex writes a letter to the producer of the original 'Trust' music video.
Meeting 7, 18th September
I have rung the owner of the building we want to film at but the price and hours he offers us to film there arn't good enough. Alex is enquiring about a property we can film at and I look at a possible filming location at South Weald. Storyboarding begins today.
Meeting 8, 21st September
Did more storyboarding and looked at pictures of the new location we want to film at. Alex is going to find the location adress and we are soon going to decide a date for filming.
Meeting 9, 23rd September
Today we filled out our risk assessment forms, considering the various dangers of wroking in the derelict nightclub. Work on lyric annotation and storyboarding finished.
Meeting 10, 25th September
We decided on Sunday 4th October as our fist day of filming, I have confirmed that Andy will be avaliable on this date to act as our bass player and supply us with a drum kit. We would have started filming earlier but the person we wanted to act as our drummer is in hospital recovering from an operation.
Meeting 11, 29th September
We begun our shooting schedule for filming this Sunday. The plan is to focus on footage of the band playing together. I'll be arrivng at the filming location with Andy, the drum kit, a guitar and the bass and Alex will be bringing the tripod, is guitar and Matt (drummer)
Meeting 12, 30th September
The animated storyboard is created.
Meeting 13, 2nd October
Planning for the day of filming. I'm going to pick up Andy and the drum kit on Saturday night, Andy is gonna stay over, we go to the location in the morning and set up the drum kit. Alex is going to pick up the tipod from Lila tomorow and Matt will meet Alex in the morning and they willd rive to the filming location together.
Fist day of Filming, 4th October
When me and Andy arrive we inspect the premises and set up the drum kit. When Alex and Matt arrived we begun filming, starting with shot 5. We filmed all the bands hots used in the introduction, first verse and first chorus.
Meeting 14, 5th October
We uploaded the footage from out first day of filming and begun choosing our favorite takes. We've decided to start filming again on
11th October. Steven Wager's dad will supply transportation for me, Fiona (our actress) and the drum kit. In exchange for this Me and Alex will act in Steven's music video.
Meeting 15, 7th October
We have confirmed that we can get transportation from Steven's dad and Fiona is avaliable. Today we chose our CD cover and band name: 'Blood of Heroes'
Meeting 18, 8th October
Today we focused on updating our blogs. I called Andy who will call me tomorow to confirm is he is avaliable for Sunday. Matt is avaliable for Sunday.
Second Day of Filming, 11th October
Today we had the whole cast. We filmed the introduction to the video and all the scenes with Fiona and Mike who play the two characters. Steve Wager provided transportation of the instruments, chair, me and Fiona in excahnge for me and Matt to be in a scene he can film at the location for his own music video. Although everything was filmed, there was some difficulty due to a shortage of time and unpredictable weather.
Meeting 19, 13th October
Today me and Alex had an arguement about the previous meeting. I was concerned about the quality of the footage flmed and felt as if not enough time had been allowed to film. Alex felt as if I was deliberatly ignoring his suggestions. We went thorugh the footage but were unable to upload any due to problems with the software.
Meeting 20, 14th October
Today was focused on organising the third ay of filming. We are going to film on Sunday 18th, meeting at the location at 10:30am. It will be me, Alex, Andy and Matt and we will be filming more shots of the band playing, many focusing on individual musicians and using more moving shots.
Meeting 21 and 22, 15 and 16th October
For these meetings we studied our existing footage, assesing which ones should be shot again.
Third Day of Filming, 18th October
Me and Andy arrived first (as usual). After getting the equipment into the building, I realised that we didn't have the bolts to hold the drum kit together. When Matt and Andy set up the drum kit, a stick was used to hold one of the drums in place. Today we filmed everything left to film, including a variety of different shots of the band to be used during the final chorus and guitar solo. Overall this was the best day of filming.
Meeting 23, 22nd October
Today we uploaded all of the footage from the first, second and third days of filming. Today we began the editing process.
Meeting 24, 3rd November
First meeting since of the second half term. We continue editing the video. It has been decided that we should cut the video first and add effect later.
Meetings, 4th-20th
Throughout this period, all time in class is focused on editing the video.
Meetings, 8th, 9th, 10th December
Alex is absent on these days due to illness. Without him I work on the album cover digipack, the myspace page, exporting the video.
